Woman-to-Woman Program is an evidence-based prevention program for teen mothers and pregnant girls from Hillsborough County who are at high risk for academic failure and repeat pregnancies.

Getting to know the other survivor volunteers and sharing each other’s experiences of ovarian cancer binds us into a sisterhood of strength and understanding. Monthly workshops taught her about parenting, anger  management, healthy relationships and goal setting among other skills.

Its purpose is to offer a patient someone to talk to and help her better cope with the many challenges of gynecologic cancer.

Woman to Woman was founded by ovarian cancer survivor Valerie Goldfein at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2004. Starting immediately after the initial cancer diagnosis - which includes cervical, uterine (endometrial), ovarian, vulvar, peritoneal, vaginal and fallopian tube cancers - and continuing through to recovery, the volunteers are available to provide assistance and support by phone, email or in one-on-one meetings. Volunteers are the life-blood of Gulf Coast JFCS.

Woman to Woman (W2W) is a program that pairs gynecologic cancer patients with trained Volunteer Mentors who provide one-on-one emotional support and mentoring. Washington, Interested in becoming a mentor in our Woman to Woman program?

This is the first step, through Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, that we’ve actually been able to address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families.
